Nellie's Place for Baseball is personalized hitting instruction presented by Nelson Straley. Nelson works with players of all skill levels; primarily high school and college players and has a record of working with players from little league to pro ball.
Nelson brings to his players over twenty years of coaching experience. He began his personalized coaching career in 1990 assisting Bill Sudakis who starred for the Los Angeles Dodgers and played eight years in the major leagues.
Nelson's playing history includes:
-- playing for Marv Wood who coached Loyola Marymount College for fifteen years. Coach Wood won four high school CIF championships. Nelson was a player on the 1967 championship team.
-- was all CIF in 1967
-- played professional ball in the New York Yankee and Seattle Pilots franchises playing for Karl Keuhle author of the Mental Game of Baseball
In addition to the personalized coaching history, Nelson has also:
-- coached Connie Mac for six years
-- assisted Steve Barrett at Oceanview high school for four years
